We want you to be happy with your purchase. We have set out everything you need to know about buying from us but if you have any questions please get in touch.
We accept all major credit and debit cards. Our site is hosted on Shopify Inc. They provide us with the online e-commerce platform that allows us to sell our products to you. Payments are processed using Stripe a secure and trusted online payment gateway. If you want more info on how we handle your data and protect your privacy please see our terms and conditions.
We aim to dispatch all orders within 2 working days. In the unlikely event that an item is unavailable we will contact you immediately and offer you a full refund.
Occasionally orders may take slightly longer to be dispatched or delivered but we'll let you know if this is the case.
Orders are shipped using Royal Mail 48 service for the UK and Royal Mail International Standard for international orders by default. Separate arrangements can be made on individual request.
Please note, international orders may be subject to import duties and/or tax, in such cases these are the responsibility of the buyer.
We pack all of our products carefully to make sure they arrive in great condition. We try to keep shipping costs equal or below the price of postage, including cost of packaging. Postage and Packaging is calculated prior to payment at checkout and will vary depending on the contents of your order and the delivery destination.
Deliveries to the UK are charged a flat rate of £3 per order. Orders over £20 will enjoy free shipping.
Deliveries to the EU countries are charged a flat rate of £4.50 (ca €5.20) per order. Orders over £30 (ca €35) will enjoy free shipping. This is using Royal Mail's International non-tracked service.
Orders can be shipped using Royal Mail International Tracked & Signed service, at a surcharge of £5 (ca €5.90) per order.
USA & Canada
Deliveries to USA and Canada are charged a flat rate of £6 (ca $7.50) per order. Orders over £40 (ca $50) will enjoy free shipping. This is using Royal Mail's International non-tracked service.
Orders can be shipped using Royal Mail International Tracked & Signed service, at a surcharge of £6 (ca $7.50) per order.
Deliveries to other countries are based on the weight of the parcel, and the postage will be displayed at checkout.
When the combined weight of products and packaging exceeds 5kg for UK orders or 2kg for International Orders, postage will not be displayed at checkout. In such cases, please contact us at hello[at]teainthecity[dot]com to discuss alternative postage arrangements.
Payment is to be made in British pounds sterling. International credit card providers or banks determine the exchange rate and may add an additional processing or administration charge which you will be liable to pay.
Prices & VAT
All the prices on our site are inclusive of any applicable UK VAT. Where you have requested delivery to a UK or EU address, the price paid for the Product will usually include UK VAT, and UK VAT will be shown on your VAT receipt. VAT is not charged on orders placed outside of the UK and the EU, however the price paid by you for the Products will remain the same as shown on the Website.
We hope you love your Tea in the City purchase. However, if you are unsatisfied with it or you have just changed your mind please let us know immediately. We are happy to refund or replace unused/ unopened tea packets, returned in their original condition and packaging, within 14 days of dispatch. This applies to single product orders as well as new subscriptions.
We will refund outbound shipping costs for any returned items. You will be responsible for your postage costs for returning an item to us, unless that item is faulty. You are responsible for the product until it reaches us. If you return something to us we will notify you by email to let you know we have received it. If we approve the refund we’ll aim to refund you within 14 days. Sale items cannot be returned or refunded.
If a returned item is shipped international, please clearly mark the package 'RETURNED GOODS', to avoid any Customs charges. Tea in the City is not responsible for any return Customs charges made. Any charges incurred by Tea in the City in receiving the return item may be deducted from the refund amount.
We have tried to give the best possible representation of our products on the site. However, actual products may vary slightly from the images shown online, including the colour and the appearance of the leaf. This is perfectly normal, as tea is a natural product which may vary from batch to batch. The same applies to our teaware items, many of which are handmade, which again means that individual units may vary in finish slightly. Please bear this in mind when ordering our products.
